Sgt Ralph Goode (Lilydale), 2^nd Field Ambulance: In the field in France. In his diary – ‘At 10am this morning Fritz shelled us very heavy, getting a direct hit on our station and two more within a few yards demolishing the farm. Our casualties: four killed, six wounded, three of our wagons smashed to atoms, and our gear. We moved to another farm during the afternoon’.
