Trp Bert Hutchinson (Lilydale), 4^th Light Horse Regiment: In camp in Egypt. In a letter to his future wife, Jessie Mackenzie of Yalca, Vic – ‘This evening one of our aeroplanes got out of control and fell. As soon as it reached the earth the benzine caught fire and the plane was one mass of flame. The occupants of the aeroplane were both badly burnt. One died in a few seconds and the other one is not expected to live’.
