Sgt George Deacon (Lilydale), 7^th Battalion: Is later recommended for the Distinguished Conduct Medal for his actions on this day through to September 16^th, 1918. His recommendation states: ‘For consistently good work and devotion to duty from 25 February to 16 September, 1918. At Strazeele, during a minor operation, under a heavy barrage, he showed great initiative in organizing the forwarding of ammunition to the line. In the operations forwards of Villers-Bretonneux in August, he again showed gallantry and devotion to duty in keeping up supplies in the company. His personal courage and energy are an example to all his men.’
