Gnr Percy Hyne (Lilydale), 8^th Field Artillery Battery: In a letter to his Mother – ‘After leaving Tokaybure we went into action in Mud Lane. We stayed there about ten days and then went to Messines Ridge. It was here we started to lose men fast, for on that ridge we lost 24 men killed and wounded out of 36. I was not sorry to leave it. But bad as it was, it was holiday to Ypres’.
